Mentoring Morphosis

Finding successful paths in academia.

The Hessian Mentoring Network addresses students of the natural, life and engineering sciences and provides a one-to-one mentoring scheme in matching the students with senior students, PhD students or employees from industry. Together with SciMento-hessenweit and ProProfessur it is one of the three mentoring programmes in Hesse for female scientists.

Minerva FemmeNet is a support programme for women scientists within the Max Planck Society. The wealth of knowledge of successful female scientists is transferred to young ones through a one-to-one mentoring programme which includes all career levels from PhD students to assistant professors within the 40 Max Planck Institutes in Germany. Half of the mentors are alumnae who in the meantime have found highly responsible positions in industry or academia.

ProProfessur is a mentoring programme for the target group of female assistant and junior professors to support them during their final steps into professorships. It is supported by all five Hessian universities and lasts 18 months. The advanced female scientists from all faculties are prepared for tasks in research, management and leadership using the newest methods and with a one-to-one mentoring scheme.

SciMento-hessenweit is a member of Forum Mentoring, which is the umbrella organization for all mentoring programmes at universities in Germany.

CEWS (Centre of Excellence - Women and Science) is the national central node for the realization of gender equality between women and men in science and research in Germany. This political area is supported by CEWS through new thoughts and ideas, and initiatives for change which are scientifically evaluated and help to actively design the necessary transfer processes between science and politics.
